This week's top Stories About All New Toyota Corolla Altis 2020

Introduction:

The Toyota Corolla is one of the foremost popular cars in the world, and in India, the story isn't any different. When the second-gen Altis was launched in India, it caused quite a stir within the market and reclaimed the coveted status that had been slipping from its grasp. The facelift was launched just last year and therefore the Corolla Altis has currently priced between Rs 15.7 and Rs 19.64 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

What’s New?

Toyota 2021 Corolla hatchback lineup. The 1500 copies that'll be produced feature an exclusive body kit and Supersonic Red paint.  Beside a unique appearance and a specially tuned chassis, it's available with summer tires and a manual transmission. However, there'll only be 120 stick-shift models available; the others have a CVT. Every Corolla now has Android Auto, too. Both body styles are once more available with black exterior accents courtesy of the Nightshade model.

Previously, sources near to Toyota had confirmed that the next-generation Corolla is going to be launched in 2020. We had expected the Japanese manufacturer to showcase the sedan at the 2020 Auto Expo and launch it soon after. However, the carmaker has pulled the plug on the Toyota Corolla Altis, and by extension, any updates within the near future.

Pros:

• Spacious cabin.

• Strong reliability.

• Silent engines and good cabin insulation.

• Dual rear AC vents.

Cons:

• Feels old as compared to the newer competition.

• Underpowered diesel motor because it is smaller than the petrol one.

• Much expensive for what you get.

Engine:

Except for the sportier SE and XSE models, the Corolla sedan uses a 139-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder that sends power to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic drive (CVT). The zestier versions have a 169-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pairs with a CVT or optional six-speed manual. While all hatchbacks have the larger engine, only the sedan offers a hybrid gearing.

Our tests of the 2019 Corolla SE hatchback and therefore the 2020 Corolla XSE sedan proved even the strongest engine doesn't deliver adequate acceleration.

The Toyota twins were prudent around town and steady on the highway. However, the hard acceleration produced coarse engine sounds that diminished their refinement. Both the Corolla sedan and therefore the hatchback has a pleasing ride quality that adequately isolates about the worst bumps. Their controlled body motions also provide better agility than previous iterations.

The Corolla SE and XSE further separate themselves with a stiffer sport-tuned suspension and therefore the latter's larger 18-inch wheels (everything else rides on either 15- or 16-inch rims). Still, compared with athletic and interesting rivals, like the Mazda 3 and Volkswagen Golf, the Corolla's progressive steering is satisfactory but not exemplary. While neither Corolla body style had impressive leads to our 70-mph-to-zero braking test—requiring between 174 and 183 feet—their brake pedals were dependable and straightforward to work.

Interior:

Inside, the Corolla Sedan share a streamlined dashboard and soft-touch materials, which is really impressive work done by Toyota. Every model has passive entry and push-button start, but certain Corollas are often upgraded with ambient interior lighting, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats. those that regularly have back-seat passengers should consider the sedan over the hatchback since it's considerably more legroom behind the front seats.

The Corolla hatchback has 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind its back seat, but we only fit two carry-on bags back there. However, the new no-cost Enhanced Cargo Space option expands that area by 6 cubic feet (23 total) by replacing the love handle with a tire-repair kit. While the sedan only has 13 cubes of trunk volume, we squeezed eight bags inside. Both body styles had inferior interior cubby storage compared with capacious rivals like the Honda Civic. Thankfully, there is a convenient tray at the front of their center console and a useful bin below the armrest.

Infotainment System:

Every Corolla features a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. the massive touchscreen bezel dominates the dashboard, but its numerous hard buttons and rotary volume and tuning knobs help keep the driver's eyes on the road during use. Top options include wireless charging and an upgraded JBL sound system.

Safety (Crash Test 2020):

Front Barrier Crash Rating (@ 64 km/h) 5 Star

Side Crash Rating 5 Star

Side Barrier Rating 5 Star

Combined Side Barrier & Pole Rating 5 Star

Rollover Rating 4 Star

Overall Rating 5 Star

Overall Conclusion:

What we expect, though, maybe a hybrid powertrain. Overall, the new Corolla looks sportier than the prevailing version inside-out. While there’s a totally new platform sitting underneath the new Corolla, the outside design only appears to be an evolution of the present version. the size hasn’t changed much, therefore the new Corolla should be even as big to seem at because of the current version.
